Hundreds of drones, pyrotechnic effects and coloured smoke transformed the skyline above Porto and Gaia in a unique artistic performance witnessed by thousands.
Air Invictus brought aviation to Greater Porto, with exhibitions and activities at Maia Aerodrome. In Matosinhos, concerts and a record-breaking show featuring 3,097 drones lit up Praia do Titan. On the Douro, racing aircraft, aerobatics and military flypasts drew thousands of spectators over two days. Czech pilot Petr Kopfstein won the air race, marking the return of Air Racing to the Douro.
North Festival 2026 arrives in Maia with a three-day line-up that includes The Cure, Snow Patrol, Europe, The Waterboys, Liniker, Mogwai and Ornatos Violeta. We spent a day at the festival as it began life in its new home at the Cidade Desportiva.
FC Porto are champions again, and the afternoon at the Dragão had the full shape of a title celebration. The team beat Santa Clara on the final day, lifted the trophy in front of a packed stadium, and then carried the party into the city, with the Aliados and Ribeira turning into one vast blue-and-white celebration.
The air and aerospace festival will run from 19 to 21 June, with events in Porto, Vila Nova de Gaia, Maia and Matosinhos. The official programme includes air races, aerobatics, drone shows, aircraft exhibitions, music and family-friendly activities, with several moments open to the public.
