As is tradition, the Volta a Paranhos, the oldest road race in the country, is scheduled for the morning of December 8th. The children open the program, at 10:00 am, with a 500-metre social run. It is called Voltinha a Paranhos and has free participation, limited to 200 subscribers, aged between six and 10 years.
At 10:45 am, on Rua de Alfredo Allen, the main test of the morning begins. Many hundreds of athletes, amateurs and professionals, usually participate, including some of the main national names in the sport. Last year there were 1700 runners, with Simão Bastos (from Recreio Desportivo de Águeda) and Sara Duarte (from Sporting Clube de Braga) being the fastest.
Parallel to the race, there will also be a non-competitive four kilometer walk, which usually brings together many families and groups of friends in a relaxed and festive atmosphere.
Applications for both distances can still be made online.
