Porto is the second best city in Europe in 2021

Porto comes in second place in a poll on the best European cities in 2021, carried out by Condé Nast Traveller. It is the only Portuguese city ranked at the top 10.

The readers of Condé Nast Traveler magazine chose Porto as one of the best cities in Europe, in the 34th edition of the Readers' Choice Awards. Invicta ranks second on the list, reaching a total of 92.78 points. In first place is Istanbul, Turkey (93.67 points), and in third place is San Sebastián, Spain (91.52 points). To be included in the list of the best cities in Europe, Condé Nast Traveler considered criteria such as "a world-class dining scene, many elegant hotels, friendly locals and an intriguing history".

More than 800,000 readers from around the world contributed to this year's Condé Nast Traveler Reader's Choice Awards, who shared their experiences in cities, islands, hotels, spas, cruises, trains and airlines.

In the list of the best big cities in the world, Porto occupies the eighth place, for being the "most creative city in Portugal" and a good destination for wine lovers. The article highlights the Igreja de São Francisco and the Casa de Chá da Boa Nova, in Leça da Palmeira. Regarding the top 20 hotels in the Iberian Peninsula, we highlight The Yeatman Hotel, in Vila Nova de Gaia (6th place), the Savoy Palace, in Madeira (8th place), the Hotel Infante Sagres, in Porto (11th place), Belmond Reid's Palace, in Madeira (12th place), and the Tivoli Palácio de Seteais, in Sintra (13th place)).
