MEO Marés Vivas 2025 is affirmed as a comprehensive cultural experience that surpasses a musical event, turning into a true celebration of Portuguese and international artistic diversity. With established stars, emerging talents, top-quality humor, and modern, inclusive infrastructure, the festival sets the benchmark for national events and underscores how culture can foster social cohesion and cultural promotion.

MEO Marés Vivas is a frequent stop in our Music reports and establishes itself as one of the most complete and diverse music experiences in the national scene, offering three intense days of music, comedy, and entertainment that turn the former Madalena Campsite into a true stage of cultural celebration. This festival, now the largest musical event in Northern Portugal, stands out not only for the quality of its artists but also for the variety of its offerings and its ability to create unique atmospheres for different audiences. We went through some of these ambiences, as follows.
Main stage
The MEO Stage is the epicenter of the festival’s musical experience, featuring a lineup that spans international rock veterans and the most respected names in Portuguese music. Here, the festival’s history is written night after night, marked by unforgettable performances.
Scorpions
Scorpions embody the essence of global classic rock, bringing a career stretching over 60 years to the festival. Formed in Germany in 1965, the band has won over generations with immortal anthems like "Wind of Change," "Rock You Like a Hurricane," and "Still Loving You." With more than 120 million albums sold worldwide, the Scorpions are among the greatest hard rock bands ever, having pioneered the German rock movement that went global in the 1980s and 1990s. Their presence marks a special moment for classic rock fans, promising a unique communion with one of the genre’s most influential groups.

Xutos & Pontapés
Xutos & Pontapés represent the longevity and authenticity of Portuguese rock, celebrating a career begun in 1978 that still inspires generations. The band, originally formed by Zé Pedro, Kalú, Tim, and Zé Leonel, is the standard-bearer for Portuguese rock’n’roll, with classics like "Sémen," "Toca e Foge," "A Minha Casinha," and "Contentores." Considered true "stage animals," their concerts are legendary parties, and their connection with the audience is undeniable. Their discography includes milestone albums such as "Circo de Feras" (1987) and "88" (1988), as well as more recent works like "Duro" (2019). Xutos & Pontapés’ cultural impact transcends music, forming part of Portuguese national identity.

Marcus King
Marcus King, born March 11, 1996 in Greenville, South Carolina, is one of the most promising voices in contemporary blues and rock. With a musical lineage spanning generations, King began playing guitar at age three and performing professionally by 11. His "El Dorado" (2020) album, produced by Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys, garnered a Grammy nomination and demonstrated King’s versatility across blues, rock, soul, and Southern rock. Known as an exceptional guitarist and for his "rich and textured" vocals, his most recent album "Mood Swings" (2024) reinforces his standing as one of the most authentic voices in American music.

Moche Stage - Discoveries and Emerging Sounds
The Moche Stage is dedicated to promoting new talents and contemporary sounds, offering a platform to emerging artists and innovative musical proposals. Fado has always been dear to us for its Portuguese roots. What truly sparks our curiosity now are the new proposals and contemporary takes, such as those of Milhanas.
Milhanas
Milhanas is one of the most promising voices in the new generation of Portuguese music, standing out for her ability to fuse the intensity of fado with a contemporary pop and urban aesthetic. Originally from Lisbon, the singer-songwriter explores themes of introspection and melancholy with remarkable authenticity. Her career was consolidated with the 2023 release of her debut album, "De Sombra a Sombra", an acclaimed work that earned her nominations for awards like the Globos de Ouro and the PLAY – Portuguese Music Awards. Singles such as "Lamentos" and "Mais que ao Sol" were fundamental in establishing her musical identity. In 2025, anticipation is growing for her new album, already previewed by the single "Algo Mais," released in late 2024. With this approach, Milhanas captivates a diverse audience and solidifies her position as an innovative force on the Portuguese music scene.

Comedy Stage
The SAPO Comedy Stage is a cherished festival space, offering a diverse program that celebrates Portuguese humor in myriad forms.
Eduardo Madeira
Eduardo Madeira, one of the most charismatic and versatile figures in contemporary Portuguese humor, is a pioneer of stand-up in Portugal. With a career spanning memorable characters, iconic television appearances, and celebrated scripts, Madeira combines creative freedom and social relevance in his humor. He continues to innovate with projects such as the 2025 RTP series "O Bairro do Humor," further cementing his influence on Portugal’s comedic culture.

For shorter and divorced bites, you find plenty of spots in the festival’s Map. The Samba Stage transports festival-goers into an atmosphere of tropical celebration, inviting everyone to dance, sing, and feel the music in a participatory and interactive way. Tiago Nacarato leads this stage, presenting immersive 360-degree shows across all three festival days, often with special guests—guaranteeing extra energy and fun throughout the event. Another stage, new in 2025, is the Coca-Cola Stage, dedicated to garage bands and new talents seeking a platform to reach the festival’s diverse audience. This stage is crucial for developing new talent and keeping Portuguese music vibrant and ever-evolving, underlining the festival’s commitment to variety and cultural richness.

MEO Marés Vivas 2025 stands out for its advanced infrastructure, supported by 6 km of fiber optics, robust Wi-Fi, full mobile coverage (2G/4G/5G), over 150 network devices, and a dedicated mobile station—ensuring seamless connectivity across the festival’s 30-hectare grounds.
