Every year, Time Out global readers and editors try to identify the world's coolest neighborhoods: the perfect places to party, enjoy food, art and culture. Last year, we entered a new era and people's daily lives changed. In 2021, community spirit, resilience and sustainability must also be priorities in what we are looking for in a city – especially if we want to come out of this pandemic with something we can be proud of.

For months, the global Time Out asked 27,000 readers and local experts around the world to choose the best spots in their cities. This year, Portugal is represented with the Anjos neighborhood, in Lisbon (34th place), and Foz do Douro, in Porto (38th place).

The place where the river meets the sea was chosen as one of the best refuges in Porto. Of note are the "wide streets for running and cycling" and the beaches, which are good for "walking with family, surfing or relaxing alone". "New restaurants and concept stores continue to be born, but Foz preserves its noble architecture, ancient monuments, historic bakeries and pastry shops, grocery stores and traditional markets" reads the article.

In this week's edition of Time Out Portugal, dedicated to the two coolest neighborhoods in Portugal, Foz is highlighted through places such as Jardim do Passeio Alegre, the Tavi confectionery, the bike path, the Mercado da Foz and the restaurants of the Cafeína Group and by chef Pedro Lemos.
