FC Porto humiliated Benfica at the Dragão Stadium, putting on a superb and unanswered display, winning 5-0. The blue and whites took some time to get going, but they took control of the game early on, preventing Benfica from playing and dominating possession.

Until the first goal of the match, FC Porto had two goal-scoring opportunities, with Francisco Conceição involved in both. At the 20th minute mark, Galeno capitalized on a corner – Di Maria, unaware, left the winger unmarked – and opened the scoring. Despite Rafa testing Diogo Costa after the goal, it was FC Porto who found the net again, courtesy of Galeno. The score at halftime was 2-0 in favor of Porto, rewarding their greater aggression and superiority.

At halftime, Roger Schmidt brought on Carreras and Florentino for Morato and Kokçu for a more assertive start to the second half. Despite this promising start, FC Porto reached their third goal at the 55th minute, through Wendell – with an assist from Galeno. Nicolás Otamendi saw a red card at the 60th minute for accumulation of yellow cards. Managing the game effectively, FC Porto scored their fourth goal through Pepê.

The fans were chanting "just one more," and Sérgio Conceição's team responded positively in the 90th minute through Danny Namaso. The final score was a resounding 5-0 victory, putting FC Porto six points behind Benfica and seven points behind Sporting, who have played one game less.
